Steve Watson

Steve Watson has played varsity lacrosse as a midfielder at Montgomery High School for four years and varsity football for three years as a cornerback and wide receiver.  He holds a number of school records in each sport and has served as captain for both teams his senior year.  He values his role as a mentor for younger players and tries to help all players have an impact on the field.

Steve has had a varied athletic career over the years. He’s played cricket, baseball and soccer in Australia; football, baseball, basketball and lacrosse in south Florida.  Although he was a successful left-handed pitcher, he put down the bat and glove to take up lacrosse in the 6th grade and he’s never looked back.

Some of Steve’s football accomplishments include 3rd team All-State Group III honors as a wide receiver in 2005, 1st team All-County, and All-Conference, 2nd team All-Area in both 2005 and 2006. He’s amassed over 1350 receiving yards and scored 11 touchdowns in his career.

In 2005, the Cougar lacrosse team defeated Pingry for its 1st Somerset County crown, clinching the Bianchi conference title as well.  In 2006, the Cougars met Ramapo in the Group III State Championship game, ending the season with a 10-12 loss.  Steve earned Honorable Mention All- State Group B honors and 1st team All-Bianchi Conference status in 2005.  In 2006, he was named 1st team All-Bianchi Conference and 2nd team All Skyland Conference.  He’s led all middies in scoring each year of his career, contributing 77 goals and 47 assists thus far to the team’s success.

Steve will continue his lacrosse career at Rutgers next year.
